Riverdale and Beverly Hills 90210 star Luke Perry died Monday morning St. Joseph's Hospital in Burbank after suffering a "massive" stroke Wednesday at his Sherman Oaks home.

Perry was reportedly sedated to allow his brain "a fighting chance to recover," but the damage was already too extensive, according to a TMZ report. The 52-year-old actor was surrounded by his children Jack and Sophie, fiancé Wendy Madison Bauer, ex-wife Minnie Sharp, mother Ann Bennett, step-father Steve Bennett, brother Tom Perry, sister Amy Coder, and other close family and friends, the report said.

The actor's net worth was $10 million, according to Celebrity Net Worth.

Perry most recently played Archie's father in the CW's hit teen drama Riverdale; however, he is arguably best known for his role as Dylan McKay in the '90s drama series 90210. He also appeared in '90s films like Buffy the Vampire Slayer, The Fifth Element and 8 Seconds.

The 52-year-old began his acting career in the '80s with appearances in soap operas Loving and Another World; however, through his role on 90210, Perry became an immediate heartthrob and the aspiring actor could leave his day job on a road crew.

"A year ago I was shoveling asphalt, and a year from now, I can be doing it again," Perry said in a 1991 interview with Entertainment Tonight. "I think that puts a good perspective on things if you remember that."

"I'm in no hurry to have my name above a title or to be a star of a film," Perry said in 1992. "I just hope the roles that I get are ones that will fulfill me and allow me to be better."

Perry's 90210 co-star Shannen Doherty, spoke with Entertainment Tonight Tuesday about the 52-year-old's condition.

"I can't talk about it here because I will literally start crying," Doherty said at an event Tuesday night. "I love him and he knows I love him."

"It's Luke, he's my Dylan," she added, fighting back tears.

While Perry was known as "the vet on set" among the Riverdale cast and crew, it's not clear how the show will be affected after the unexpected loss of Archie's father.
