The Wedding Cake
Jenna Bush Hager and husband Henry Chase Hager shared a delicious moment — the cake cutting! — after their lakeside nuptials at the family's Prairie Chapel Ranch in Crawford, Texas, on May 10, 2008. "This is a joyous occasion for our family as we celebrate the happy life ahead of [Jenna] and her husband, Henry," the president said during his weekly radio broadcast afterward.
The Bush Family
With their style mirroring the central Texas landscape, the bride's maid-of-honor and twin Barbara (left) wore a dress of moonstone blue shimmer with a silver sash, while mom Laura sported an Oscar de la Renta deep turquoise gown.
President George W. Bush and Jenna Bush Hager
"Our little girl, Jenna, married a really good guy," the proud former president (with the bride) later told reporters before returning to Washington, D.C.
The Wedding Dress
Opting for an "organic and natural" feel to the wedding, Jenna wore an embroidered organza Oscar de la Renta gown.
The Wedding Ceremony
"Oh what a life," Jenna wrote on Instagram in May 2021, reflecting on 13 years with Henry.
The Vows
Saying their "I Do's" at sunset, Jenna and Henry were joined at the limestone altar by Pastor Kirbyjon Caldwell of the Windsor Village United Methodist Church in Houston. The altar was the president's idea, intended to stand as a permanent landmark on the Bush family property.
The Family of Five
And then there were five! The Bush family gained a new member after the sunset ceremony.
The Wedding Décor
Following the nuptials, the 200 guests enjoyed dinner and dancing under tents on the property.
The Wedding Reception
Nashville-based singer Tyrone Smith (also known as Super T) provided the music, and he told PEOPLE at the time that Jenna and Henry gazed into each other's eyes during their first dance to Taj Mahal's "Lovin' in My Baby's Eyes." The first daughter also shared a poignant dance with her father to Joe Cocker's "You Are So Beautiful," while the former president hit the dance floor again when the band played The Archies' "Sugar, Sugar." Said Smith: "He got down!"
The Newlyweds
The happy couple looked out into the sunset after exchanging their vows. "The wedding was spectacular," the former president said. "It's all we could have hoped for ... It was just a special day and a wonderful day, and we're mighty blessed."
