A recent TikTok video made a splash with viewers because they could not stop laughing at a mastermind dog in action.
A golden retriever took a dip in the lake and as soon as he saw the nearest human he started running. As the creator said, the dog was "calculating" his shake-off. And that he was.
The person screamed and ran away, knowing what was coming, as the dripping pooch dashed up the deck steps toward him. But unfortunately, he did not escape. The dog had him backed up to the sliding glass door squaling for him to get away when the dog shook out all the water.
But that wasn't quite the end of it. He dashed for the half gate, seemingly keeping a safe distance between himself and the soggy pup—only to get too brave, return to the gate too early, and get a second shower for good measure.
The caption reads: "100% planned."
The November 27 TikTok video posted to the account @conigliaro12 quickly went viral, racking in over 23.6 million views and 4.2 million likes.
Aside from everyone cracking up over this dog's mischievous ways, viewers are also claiming that this is typical golden retriever energy.
"Our golden retriever does the same thing. He literally chased after my dad who was on the golf cart to shake off by him," said one user.
Another added: "His first scream when he KNEW!!"
That is not his first time purposely getting someone wet and it likely won't be his last.
Newsweek reached out via TikTok for additional comment.
What Is the 'Shake Off'
Shake it off (a dog's version) is very common. It is one of many ways a dog uses their body to communicate with their owners. But a dog's shake can be confusing.
The obvious shake-off is went a dog is wet and according to the American Kennel Club, it is very efficient. Wet dogs can shake off about 70 percent of the water on their fur within four seconds. Convenient and effective for them, but a disaster for whoever is standing nearby.
The confusion comes when it is a dry dog as there could be a few different reasons why they are shaking. Shaking can be a sign of stress in dogs. While it can be mistaken for shaking, shivering and trembling can mean a dog is in pain. Other health-related problems with shaking include ear infections, poisoning, low blood sugar, or seizures.
