A North Carolina mom strangled her two young children to death before she leapt from a bridge earlier this year, a new autopsy report has revealed.

The Charlotte-Mecklenburg Police Department said they were called around 5:40pm to the scene on January 13 to Interstate 485 after Christina Treadway, 34, landed onto the highway.

Treadway was pronounced dead at the scene after she jumped from the Old Gum Branch Road bridge.

Treadway's three-year-old-daughter, Iliyah Miller, and seven-year-old son, Isaiah Miller, were discovered with fatal wounds at the woman's home in the 2100 block of Sebastani Drive.

The children were rushed to Carolinas Medical Center, where they were pronounced dead.

'Investigation revealed that her mother had likely killed both of her children,' the autopsy report for Iliyah said this week.

The father of the slain siblings has been notified and he was not considered a person of interest.

Treadway had worked as a game-day employee for the NFL football team, Carolina Panthers.

Her grief-stricken mother, Patricia Treadway, told WSOC Christina was everything a daughter should be and that her own two children were her world.

Iliyah and Isaiah's paternal grandfather, Gregory Moore, told WNCN he had been struggling to come to terms with the unbearable loss of his beloved grand children.

Moore also said he had been having trouble suppressing his anger about the situation.

The grief-stricken grandfather described little Iliyah as the family's entertainer who at age three could sing 'like a 20-year-old'.

Her older brother, Isiah, was at the top of his class at school and wise beyond his years, Moore said.

Police do not know at this time what led the mother to kill her children and commit suicide.

Based on social media posts, Ms Treadway was an attentive and doting mother who was proud of her children and their achievements.

She often posted videos showcasing her daughter's singing talent.

'Iliyah and I have an incredible bond,' Treadway posted on Instagram around the time of her daughter's birthday, as Charlotte Observer first reported.

'I'm so sad she is not a baby anymore. I'm looking forward to all her achievements and adventures.'

Treadway shared photos online showing her beaming kids trick-or-treating on Halloween, or enjoying an outing to a pumpkin patch.

Early last year, she made a touching video in which she performs a rendition of 'I Will Always Love You' while holding Iliyah, then aged two, in her arms.

The mother and daughter donned matching red frocks, black chokers and red flowers in their hair.

The slain children's biological father launched a GoFundMe page to help pay for their funerals. Ultimately, he raised $12,075.
