Cakes are a staple part of almost any wedding, regardless of tradition - however these photos prove sometimes the treats can upstage the newlywed couple for the worst reason.
The amusing bakes from around the world have been featured by Diply and Cake Wrecks, a US-based blog dedicated to sharing images of disastrous wedding cakes that couples serve up to their guests on the big day.
Many contributors of the gallery shared side-by-side photos revealing how their cake maker had baked a centerpiece that was almost unrecognizable in comparison with what they ordered.
One customer was horrified by the spelling blunder iced onto the top of their wedding cake, meanwhile another accused their baker of decorating their cake with a blonde gatecrasher.
